Asics Gel-Mai feather grey
Asics trainers mens black British designer Vivienne Westwood has teamed up with ASICS for a footwear collaboration which includes the GEL-Mai. The duo teased the partnership with an on-foot look at the low-top silhouette which will be joined by two other ASICSTIGER styles. The GEL-Mai holds a white base with red detailing throughout its frame. A sock detail is added to the pair giving it a more street-friendly profile.

Asics trainers sale online ASICS follows up its recent collaboration with BEAMS to offer a brand new take on its signature GEL-Mai model. A timely addition for the spring/summer season, the eclectic runner features a “Peacoat Navy” color scheme along the base with subtle splashes of pink hitting the tongue area and midsole branding. Mesh and suede overlays comprise much of the upper, with a rubber flex-groove GEL sole unit sitting directly below. Other notable features include its trademark asymmetrical lacing system, floating TPU heel counter, not to mention the jeweled midsole logo.

Asics trainers womens pink The ASICS Gel-Mai was originally dropped back in the early 90’s, presented as a relatively lightweight alternative to the heavier and bulkier mainstays at the time. This time was also when running and marathons were gaining in popularity, demanding more of sneaker brands. Though mostly standard in its features, the Gel-Mai’s support system was interesting. Using interlocking loops, it reminds us of Nike’s younger Flywire set up.

Asics Gel-Mai feather grey Every brand that can pull from the past is capitalizing on the current desire to be a 90s baby. Well, others are pulling from the 70s and 80s, but as far as trends go, people aren’t wearing performance shoes as much right now. They are wearing them to actually participate in sports, or in a fashion sense, although I do see a comeback in the works. They are wearing the shoes that match an outfit or make a statement.
